Less than half the paper it used to be. Site is un-navigable.
Comment A wrong decision can kill SCMP.COM * o o o o
Written by weakup from Hong Kong on 3/3/2002
SCMP already suffers deep revenue lost in its printed version in Hong Kong (I don't know how TVB enterprise can still allow them to do so), SCMP.COM should be used as an alternative marking tools to expand its reputation and brand across Asia, but somehow the high subscription fee puts people off their site recently, it's net popularity dropped almost 80% according to the new NetValue report, sigh!
Comment Too expensive! * 1/2 * o o o
Written by Morris Abbey from Hong Kong on 3/1/2002
I used to read the SCMP on-line everyday, it's quite useful especially the financial sector news. However I found their new charging scheme is way too high, please if you want to charge the same level as Asian Wall Street Journal (AWSJ), then at least make your content up to that level or others will think you are not competitive enough and definitely this will further lower your viewer traffic and as well as profit!
Comment Good initiative! * o o o o
Written by Dallas Lin from Hong Kong on 2/26/2002
SCMP.com does have more advertisers than any other portal in HK at this moment. They have a non-bastardised rate card unlike hongkong.com and appledaily. They have cut staff to reach profitability and for a company that has been on the go for 2 years is showing signs of reaching profitability a lot quicker than any of the mobile telcos out there or similar aged businesses. Recently, they start to charge its subscribers and it's a good sign making the dotcom live.

With simple and easy to navigate links, this side provides relevant information with news both general and business based!
Comment Unprofitable site around town * * o o o
Written by bandit from Hong Kong on 5/15/2001
SCMP.COM must be the most unprofitable site around town, and having Mr.Axebxxg as a publisher only makes matters worst, here is a man who just sits around wiht his feet up and is full of BS. The Kuoks don't have a clue about the business, chief honcho Kuok Koon Sen has been demoted and is most probably to be shipped to China. After all, it's just a dead dotcom.
Comment Simply one of the best! * * * * o
Written by Terry Yang from Honduras on 4/24/2001
Simply one of the best resources covering China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and the world available. Technology news ranging from Telecommunication to computing can also be found on this site.
Comment Updated report * * * * o
Written by Hotka from Hong Kong on 2/13/2001
I like the format, and although it doesn't have a whole lot of news, it does cover the current events. I stop in often to keep up with the goings on.
Comment Round the clock updates! * * * * o
Written by Thakkar from Honduras on 2/8/2001
The Round the clock updates are really cool, however, I strongly disagree with putting the Tiawan news under the China heading! It leads to confusion, like President Chen offers Olive Branch? Is Chen the president of Taiwan or China? Well I know but does everyone else? This is an obvious bow to Beijing and SCMP.com should be ashamed of themselves! You should have the courage to separate the Taiwan and China news. It makes me question the accuracy of your other news stories.
