Keep growing after WTO!

As we watch the news of the slowdown in the U.S., here in Asia we are wondering what the effects will be on the region a few months from now. From our perspective, China is still growing, and remains vital enough to be a dynamo for regional growth. ETang has proved it's doing the right thing especially after acquired XiCi.com, a well known on-line community. |

According to today's SCMP. Etang.com, one of China's top Internet content providers, planned to cut 26 per cent of its workforce as part of a restructuring. It would also make the cuts because of a product focus shift aimed at the mainland's "highly educated, younger generation". Previously Etang provides lifestyle, information and on-line services such as job listings, chatrooms, emails and e-commerce for the 18-35 age group. |

Just curious to know if the rumor of etang's closing down is true? Seemed every IT professionals in China is talking about this giant ICP’s falling. Sad but true, they best Web tool is the free Web pages and email, nothing else for generating money. |

Asian Internet companies proved especially dicey for many reasons. Net use has not reached critical mass in many parts of Asia due to poverty, inadequate telecommunications infrastructure and government restrictions. That's why etang can never make money by providing free services. |
