Closing down!

E-business consultancy Mercatela has been taken over by one of its chief backers, resulting in the closure of its Hong Kong branch and the loss of 50 jobs. Over Burned!
Written by Osman from Hong Kong on 9/3/2001

Learned from last week's SCMP that Mercatella is no longer in business, they have no major clients within the last 10 months and they keep burning $$$ like water. With a huge office in Citic Tower, there is really gurantee to fail in this kind of economic downtime. |

Overall a good start.

Mercatela has good business model with wide business connections, good development team, many of them from Big5, and currently good company morale, though it's still empty in their major client list. |

Professional Firm.

I knew it's a new comer to the e-Consulting area in Asia. Most of their funders are from EDS Asia. Currently they are still in setting up the team and don't have many corporate clients. Compare to Sicent, MarchFIRST, Icon Media Labs, I think Mercatela will stand a good position in the region. |
