On-line ad is dead, so is ICP.

Why there are so many annoying and self-defeating pop-up windows on Sina recently? Are they forcing their audience to view the stupid ad? Be real, honestly I don't think Sina or any China based ICP will survive in this hash environment. Don’t you see it’s share is closing to US$1.00 and facing the nightmare of delisting? |

De-list soon?

I like Sina, but I agreed that China's major ICPs are having serious problems. Their site content and technology are excellent, but it's extremely hard to turn eyeballs into $$$, even though Sina had tried its best. Last night NASDAQ dropped another 4%, which triggered Yahoo down and below US$15. Does dotcom really have NO FUTURE? Is it really dead? Probably, we will get the answer at the end of this year! |

The death of Chinese ICP

With NASDAQ's sharp drop on last Friday, all China based ICP has set the new low record. Sina is now around US$1.00 and facing delist if it keeps below a dolloar range. Sina itself has the greatest network among Chinese, good content and strong community, but it did spoil all viwers by offering TOO MUCH free content! Just look at WSJ, it started to charge for viewing content back a few years ago, everyone was saying it's crazy, but it's probably one of the most successful one now! |

Being the biggest!

There is no doubt that Sina has built the largest Chinese portal and on-line community over the global in less than 3 years. Even though most of the localized contents are brought from its co-brand partners (btw, it is actually co-brand partners pays both content and money to Sina to be able to get their stuff on-line. Funny huh?) I expect within 2-3 years, there will be only Sina, neteast and Sohu in the greater China region. Where does TOM.COM stand? NO WHERE! |

The biggest in Asia!

There is no doult that Sina is currently the biggest portal for Chinese in Asia, actually in the world. It has a positive revenue stream and strong content. I specially want to point out their contents are always localized and targeted to the local audience, not like those giant American portals just bring over whatever is working in the State and hope it's going to work in Asia. They won't! |

Surprise!

Sina.com surprised me a lot these days, with it’s strong performance in NASDAQ, most of the investment banks rated with “Strong BUY”. Taking with my on-line advertising friends (AdForce), their daily impressions are REAL, well over 4 millions a day across the region. The contents are information intense with no rubbish. I expect SINA to become Asia’s number one ICP as oppose to Yahoo in the Wast! Keep up the great job SINA! |
