Net losses of HK$60.2 million for the quarter!
Written by Lily Wong from Hong Kong on 8/10/2000

IMOO, STAREASTnet.com is currently having deep financial trouble with its current business model. Losing HK$60.2 million in three months is a big jump compared to the HK$6.7 million net loss for the similar timeframe in 1999. Burning rate is too high and revenue is way low. |

The one on the top list

StarEast is the one on my top list of failure dotcoms. I really can’t see what kind of revenue model it’s proposing and StarEast hasn’t earned more than HK$ 1M last year in revenue. It was a good idea, but turns out that it doesn’t really working out. Sigh! |

So Disappointed!

I gave 1 star to Content because my expectation was too high for this site. As Star East started,it was a great idea, EXCLUSIVE content, but most of its recently hot topics ARE NOT EXCLUSIVE at all! And the stars are not that famous, not to mention the design is still too informal for a billion dollar Web site. Most of all, it doesn’t even have a official Web site name stareast.com, instead it use everything ending with net.com which has become one of the most laughable topic in Asia. |

Good concept, but...

The concept of getting exclusive pop star news is good, but it's extremely difficult to implement in Hong Kong.
May be it's time for Stareastnet.com to think another creative idea to boost up their site traffic. |

Totally unset about this site

When a site claims that it was invested by 20 million dollars, what I found is just like a personal homepage! With poor design and content, i totally feel unset on this site. The only thing that i feel good is the movie part, which provides star interview and talk for users to download. |
